It’s Monday! What are you reading?
This is a weekly Meme run by Book Journey!
Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week.
I’ve been helping a friend move this week, as well as doing other busy things, so reading again has not been something I’ve done enough of. Too bad I have to have that pesky job, it gets in the way of so many things I want to do, lol.
Books completed last week:
Thorn in my Heart – Liz Curtis Higgs: I found this book to be a little slow, but still not too bad. My review will be on Royal Reviews later this week.
Books I’m reading this week:
Naked Heat – Richard Castle: To go along with my story below, I didn’t end up having a book of my own in Costco while waiting for my tire to be fixed (which took 2 hours, btw). So I started this one cuz it’s pretty short and fun.
Solid – Shelley Workinger: I’m really excited to read this one, it sounds like a lot of fun!
Inside of a Dog – Alexandra Horowitz: This is my book club’s pick for this month, and I hope to get started on it this week.
Books ongoing:
Anna Karenina – Leo Tolstoy: I read a couple more chapters in AK this week, and it’s getting really good again. I’ve been so tired, however, that my eyes start to droop after not too long. It’s not the fault of AK, it’s totally me!
Books I acquired this week:
Inside of a Dog – Alexandra Horowitz: I really wanted to get this one from the library, but none of the libraries in the county where I live, or the one where I work, have it available until after the date of our next meeting. So I bought the Kindle version, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it anyway.
Naked Heat – Richard Castle: So I went to Costco because I got a nail in my tire and since I bought my tires there, I have a warranty. And of course, I stumbled into the book section. And bought three books.
Royal Affairs – Leslie Carroll: A Costco purchase, but a book I’ve been wanting ever since I heard about it, so I don’t think it counts as feeding a habit…
Torment – Lauren Kate: I didn’t realize this was out already! But I had to buy it, natch.
What I watched this week:
- Castle
- Dexter
- The Big C
- The Challenge: Cutthroat
- The Vampire Diaries

I’m actually embarrassed to admit that I’m still watching season 1 episodes of The Vampire Diaries…I got behind and just haven’t caught up yet. I’m working on it!

I’m always hopeful too that my tire change at Costco will be fast…it never is. I’ve been watching the Castle series on TV but didn’t realize there was a book too! It’s going on my TBR list and I can’t wait.
I’m currently reading a wonderful memoir called Voices of the Heart by Linda Lambert Pestana. She is a teacher, a guide, and a blessing to us all. This is a must read for anyone facing difficult choices. The story is a personal portrayal but the journey is universal. I highly recommend it!

Yeah, it’s such a tough call, because you save so much money getting your tires done at Costco, but it’s sloooooow!
The books aren’t as good as the TV show, but they are still fun. I read Heat Wave, the first book, a few weeks ago. I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of them
That memoir sounds very interesting, I’ll have to add it to my TBR pile!
