It’s Monday! What are you reading? April 16, 2012
This is a weekly meme run by Book Journey!
Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week.
Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme that was created by Marcia at The Printed Page, who graciously hosted it for a long, long time, before turning it into a touring meme (details here). It is hosted at Cindy’s Love of Books for the month of April.
*****
I spent some time getting caught up on some TV shows this week, although I did finish one book as well. I also pre-ordered the new J.K. Rowling book, set to be out later this fall. It sounds very different from Harry Potter, but I’ve got high hopes for it.
Books completed last week:
Socialpunk – Monica Leonelle: This was a fast and fun read. My review will be up next week.
Books I’m reading this week:
The Paris Wife – Paula McLain ~ Page 110: My new book club is reading this for the month of April. Although I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to the meeting this month, I wanted to read the book anyway.
Books ongoing:
Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte ~ Page 291: I read a couple of chapters in Jane this week!
Books I acquired this week:
Sacrilege – S.J. Parris: I was thrilled to learn that this just came out this week! I adore this series!!!
Gilt – Katherine Longshore: I got this one through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program, and it sounds right up my alley. A YA book about Catherine Howard!
The Yard – Alex Grecian: This is another ARC, I requested this one through a Shelf Awareness ad. It’s a murder mystery set during Victorian times and it sounds really exciting already.
What I watched this week:
- Fashion Police, The Soup, Chelsea Lately, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, 1 girl 5 gays, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Graham Norton Show
- Castle – I watched a rerun
- Ringer
- Khloe & Lamar
- The Secret Circle – I was a few episodes behind so I got caught up
- Modern Family
- The Big Bang Theory
- Scandal
- SavageU
- It Gets Better

It’s the same for me – I’m not bored with it, just very busy. It doesn’t help that I’ve got it as my nightstand book, and there are nights that I go to bed too tired to pick it up. I really need to put more focus on it!

Hope you are enjoying Jane Eyre! The Paris Wife is one I have been curious about
Happy reading!

I couldn’t decide whether to request Gilt on NetGalley, I do love historical fiction & YA but I don’t think I’ve read too many YA historical fiction. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Have a great week and happy reading

I am interested in reading Gilt and I’ve heard really good things about The Paris Wife. It is great that you are reading the book club book even if you can’t make it to the discussion.
Have a great week!

I haven’t fully decided yet, but I might pick Gilt up next
I’m really enjoying The Paris Wife so far, it makes me kind of in love with Ernest Hemingway for a little bit! I’ve wanted to read it for awhile, so it made sense to read it even if I can’t attend the club meeting.

I listened to The Paris Wife and enjoyed it much more than I’d expected. I hope you do as well.

I loved The Paris Wife…it’s so good!!!
I spent last week catching up on recorded shows, too. I watch General Hospital (among other shows) and with 5 shows each week, it’s easy to get behind. I also started watching Scandal – what do you think of it? I still need to watch last week’s episode, but I think it’s a good show.
Have a great week!

I’m really enjoying it, although I know it’s headed for disaster so that makes it a little bitter sweet.
I made an effort to get caught up on my TV, but was only mildly successful. I watch too many shows to get caught up very easily! I am liking Scandal, it’s got enough intrigue to keep me watching, and I do adore Kerry Washington

I almost picked up The Paris Wife at my library! I might just have to snag it next time I go! Happy reading to you!

Your such a good book club member! My group met today – and I didn’t read the book because I went to a concert last night.
Miranda Lambert beat out the book – but now I kind of wish I had read the book.
Happy reading this week!
