It’s Monday! What are you reading? June 18, 2012

This is a weekly meme run by Book Journey!

Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week.

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme that was created by Marcia at The Printed Page, who graciously hosted it for a long, long time, before turning it into a touring meme (details here).  It is hosted at Alternative Read for the month of June.

*****

Busy busy busy!  This weekend was Denver Pride, which always makes things fun but hectic!

Books completed last week:
Lord John & the Scottish Prisoner – Diana Gabaldon: I knew I’d adore this one, and I totally did.  Gabaldon remains one of my favorite authors!
Click: An Online Love Story – Lisa Becker: I received this as a review copy awhile back, and made time for it this week.  My review will be up on Friday

Books I’m reading this week:
Gilt – Katherine Longshore ~ Page 28: I received this from LibraryThing about a month ago, it sounds fun!

Books ongoing:
Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte ~ Page 220: I read a bit in Jane Eyre this week, although it looks like no progress was made because I switched editions.  I decided my big hard copy was more difficult to read, so I changed to the one that I downloaded for my Kindle.

Books I acquired this week:
No new books this week!

What I watched this week:

  • Fashion Police, The Soup, Chelsea Lately,  The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, 1 girl 5 gays, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Graham Norton Show
  • Keeping Up With The Kardashians
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • SavageU
  • The Big C
  • Men In Black III
  • True Blood

I have never read anything by Diana Gabaldon. I keep meaning too but old books have to get in line behind new books and I am just so far behind in my reading. Have a great week!

I know the feeling! I have a hard time keeping up with the new books too, let alone all the old ones! Hope you’re able to get to her work some day, she’s amazing :)

I liked Click okay, but it was not my favorite read in recent memory. The format really got to me. If not for that, I would have liked it more.

  4. Comment by shelleyrae @ Book'd Out:

    I quite enjoyed Click

Wishing you a great reading week!

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it!!! I didn’t love the format, I would have liked it a lot more had it been written differently. Ah well!

  5. Comment by Pussreboots:

I can’t recall the last movie I saw in a theater.

My favorite read last week was Body and Soul by Stacey Kade. Please come see what else I’m reading.

My aunt and uncle really wanted to see it, so I decided to join them. It was a pleasant enough way to pass an evening :)

  6. Comment by Teddyree:

I love Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series but I’m not as keen on her Lord John novels. Keen to know what you think of Gilt.
Have a great week and happy reading :)

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that! You might like this one, since it’s featuring both Lord John and Jamie Fraser :) I admit that it did take me a little bit to get into the Lord John books, but he is a character that I enjoy and I’ve been happy with all of the books so far.

I’m about 50 pages into Gilt and it’s okay so far. Not my favorite at this point, but we’ll see how it progresses!

  7. Comment by Kristin T.:

I really want to read Jane Eyre – maybe I just need to start it and read a little bit every day! I like your idea of switching from hardcover to e-book – much easier I would imagine and probably also a little less daunting!

    Have a great week!

I love love love Jane Eyre, and reading a bit every day is a good idea! I’ve read it several times and enjoy it more every time. The switch to the Kindle edition was a good one, it’s soooo much easier to read when the hard cover is that big!

  8. Comment by Laurel-Rain Snow:

Diana Gabaldon has been one of those authors that I’m curious about…and at some point plan to read. Enjoy your week!

Click was okay, it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be, the format wasn’t my favorite. I think the author has promise, though!

  10. Comment by Rebecca:

I have never read Diana Gabaldon but I have a fellow book club member who raves about her books. I will definitely have to put one on my To Read list. Jane Eyre is also on my bookshelf and I hope to one day pick it up. Happy Reading!

Her Outlander series is one of the best series I’ve ever read! I hope you enjoy her when you get the chance to read something of hers :)

Jane Eyre is really great, one of my all time favorite books!!!
