It’s Monday! What are you reading? July 2, 2012

This is a weekly meme run by Book Journey!

Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week.

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme that was created by Marcia at The Printed Page, who graciously hosted it for a long, long time, before turning it into a touring meme (details here).  It is hosted at 5 Minutes For Books for the month of July.

*****

Sooo much has been going on!  I had Denver Pride one weekend, followed by the Westword Music Showcase the next.  Both of which were very awesome, but also kind of exhausting!

Books completed last week:
Gilt – Katherine Longshore: I stayed up waaaaay past my bed time to finish this one, and I enjoyed it!  That being said, I am getting a tiny bit bored with Catherine Howard.
The Initiation & The Captive Pt. 1 – L.J. Smith: I enjoyed the TV show The Secret Circle and on a whim, picked up the first omnibus at the library.  I  enjoyed it enough to be interested in the next few novels!
I Feel Bad About My Neck – Nora Ephron: This has been sitting on my shelf forever, but with Nora Ephron passing this week, I decided to finally pick it up.  I really loved it and plan to read other books by her.

Books I’m reading this week:
The Red Pyramid – Rick Riordan ~ Page 76: I grabbed this one on a whim at the library recently, figuring I might enjoy it since I liked the first Percy Jackson so well and it wasn’t available.

Books ongoing:
Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte ~ Page 220: No Jane progress, I got really into the other books I was reading so I was too distracted.

Books I acquired this week:
No new books this week!

What I watched this week:

  • Fashion Police, The Soup, Chelsea Lately,  The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, 1 girl 5 gays, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Graham Norton Show
  • Keeping Up With The Kardashians
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • SavageU
  • Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
  • True Blood

I loved The Red Pyramid (though I think the Greek and Roman mythology series are better) and I hope you do too. I still need to read Gilt. Katherine Howard is my least favorite of Henry VIII’s wives but at least she is not the main character in Gilt :)

I’m enjoying The Red Pyramid so far, though I did like The Lightning Thief better.

I did enjoy Gilt, but I agree that Cat is one of my least favorite of Henry’s wives, though I have a hard time picking between her and Jane for who I like the least. Jane is so boring to me, and I don’t know if I can forgive her for replacing Anne!

We both need to rip the bandage off and finish Jane… what happened? we were doing so well! LOL

Right?! I have been stuck around 65% for awhile, I keep thinking I need to make it my focus, but then something else will grab my attention!

I’m about to start the third in the Red Pyramid series. My favorite read last week was The Bride’s Kimono by Sujata Massey. Please come see what else I’m reading.

I’ve never read any of Nora Ephron’s books – but her movies are so cute and funny. So sad :(

I’ve heard Gilt is good – glad you enjoyed it. I love True Blood too! I’m trying to wait until the season is finished and then watch all the episodes – I can’t handle the week to week suspense!

I haven’t read any books by Nora Ephron, either, but I do love her movies. I might have to pick up a book of hers one of these days!

    Have a great week!
