It’s Monday! What are you reading? July 9, 2012

This is a weekly meme run byBook Journey!

Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week.

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme that was created by Marcia at The Printed Page, who graciously hosted it for a long, long time, before turning it into a touring meme (detailshere).  It is hosted at 5 Minutes For Books for the month of July.

*****

The good news this week is I did a fair amount of reading.  The bad news is my laptop has completely crashed and I am waiting for its replacement to arrive.  Luckily, I have a second computer that I’ve been using, but I don’t think I realized how much I rely on that laptop until it stopped working!

Books completed last week:
The Red Pyramid – Rick Riordan: I didn’t like this one as well as I liked Percy Jackson, but it was still an interesting read.  My review will be up soon.
Divergent – Veronica Roth: Tons of people have been reading this series, and my turn with it at the library finally came up.  I enjoyed this book, and my review for it will likewise be up in the next week or so.

Books I’m reading this week:
Before Ever After – Samantha Sotto: This is my book club read for July, but it has also been on my TBR list for awhile so that worked out quite well.  I’m reading it a little later than I originally planned, since our book club meeting is in a week and I prefer to read them earlier than that, but at least I’ll get it done in time!

Books ongoing:
Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte ~ Page 220: No progress in this one again this week.  I’m starting to feel like summer is so busy that I don’t know how I manage to read at all!

Books I acquired this week:
No new books this week!

What I watched this week:

  • Fashion Police, The Soup, Chelsea Lately,  The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, 1 girl 5 gays, The Ellen Degeneres Show
  • Keeping Up With The Kardashians
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Sex & the City
  • The Avengers – saw it for a second time this weekend and it was even better!
  • True Blood

I’m starting to feel like the only person who hasn’t read Divergent ;) Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

I felt the same way up until I read it last week! It was entertaining, not the best YA dystopia out there, but still worth the read :)

  2. Comment by Christina T:

I loved Divergent and also loved The Red Pyramid though I agree that the Percy Jackson books are better. I liked Before Ever After when I read it last year.

I know what it is like to have a computer crash but I’m glad you do have a backup and a laptop on its way. I hope you enjoy your reading and the book discussion!

Divergent was a good one, I’m glad I finally read it. I’ve got Insurgent on hold at the library now, though it’ll be a bit before it makes it to me.

I finished Before Ever After a few nights ago and I just adored it! It’s been on my to read list for awhile and I’m so glad my book club chose it :)

I’m *still* struggling with the laptop stuff, hopefully I will have it resolved this weekend!

I’ve got Insurgent waiting for me. I’ve had it for weeks. I’d have thought that I’d jump right in, but I haven’t.

Sometimes other things get in the way! I’ve had Pandemonium on my shelf for months now, which is one I thought I would pick up immediately, but I just haven’t had the chance yet.

Computer/laptop probs are always frustrating, hope you get your replacement soon. I loved Divergent and Insurgent and Before Ever After is on my TBR mountain.
Have a great week and happy reading :)

My replacement laptop has arrived, but I’m having some other difficulties I didn’t realize I’d have, namely that my backup is being quite troublesome. I’m hoping to get everything resolved by the end of the weekend.

  6. Comment by Sheila (Book Journey):

Oh Jane Eyre… what are we going to do with her? Maybe I will take her to the cabin with me this weekend where we can battle it out to the final page ;)

I made a little headway with her last night…I really love that book, but it can be so time consuming!

  7. Comment by Rebecca @ The Key to the Gate:

It does seem difficult to get as much reading done in the summer. Great reading list!

I always find it to be more difficult…there’s just more going on, plus it stays light later so you’re outside during times you normally would be reading!

  8. Comment by Kathy Martin:

I did like The Red Pyramid but didn’t feel any desire to continue on with the series. Divergent is still on my TBR mountain. It didn’t come to my vacation home with me though and will still be carrying over to the next school year. My Monday Report is here. Happy reading!

    • Comment by dorolerium:

I’m not going to rush to pick up the next book in the Kane Chronicles, but I liked it okay. It’ll probably be one of those things I’ll grab if I have some extra time :)

  9. Comment by Kristin T.:

I really need to just pick up Jane Eyre and start reading it – maybe a little bit each week.

Hope you enjoy all your reads and get your book club book done in time!

    Have a great week!

I’m going to try to start making myself read it a bit each week again too. I love the book, but I think it’s taking me longer since it’s a reread too.

I did get my book club read done in time, which is very exciting!

  10. Comment by Brunette Librarian:

Divergent is huge at my library too :) Everyone is reading it this summer!

    Happy reading this week :)

It took quite a bit of time for it to be my turn on the hold list :) I’m glad I finally got a chance with it!
