It’s Monday! What are you reading? August 12, 2012

This is a weekly meme run by Book Journey!

Post the books completed last week, the books you are currently reading, and the books you hope to finish this week.

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme that was created by Marcia at The Printed Page, who graciously hosted it for a long, long time, before turning it into a touring meme (details here).  It is hosted at 5 Minutes For Books for the month of August.

*****

I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks due to extreme busy-ness, to the point that I didn’t have anything to post about for a bit!  So this really comprises a couple of weeks worth of books.

Books completed last week:
The Innocents – Francesca Segal: I enjoyed this one, it was a nice slowish read and I liked the way it translated to modern times.

Beauty To Die For – Kim Alexis: I received this one as an ARC from PR By The Book and it was a fun mystery.  I’ll be posting my review and in a few weeks!

Books I’m reading this week:
Madame Tussaud – Michelle Moran ~ Page 65: This is my first Moran, if you can believe it, and I’m loving it.  My now disbanded book club picked it for August, and I decided to continue reading it even though we’re not meeting again.

Books ongoing:
Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte ~ Page 280: I read several chapters in Jane Eyre the last couple of weeks.  For those who have read it before, Jane has just begun teaching at the school where she has been employed by St. John.

Books I acquired this week:
The Lincoln Conspiracy – Timothy L. O’Brien: I won this one through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program, it sounds pretty interesting and fun!

What I watched this week:

  • Fashion Police, The Soup, Chelsea Lately,  The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, 1 girl 5 gays, The Graham Norton Show
  • Keeping Up With The Kardashians
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • The Newsroom
  • True Blood
  • Community – getting caught up on last season
  • Being Human
  • The Nerdist

The Madame Tussaud book must be intriguing. With her history this must be good.

Thank you! It seems like an interesting one!

I have been loving The Newsroom, but I have mixed feelings about True Blood…sometimes it’s pretty good, and other times it disappoints me quite a bit, lol.

Enjoy your books. My favorite book last week was Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett. Please come see what else I’m reading.

Madame Tussaud is the only book of Michelle’s I haven’t read and it’s on my bookshelf so I should rectify that. I read The Second Empress a few weeks ago and loved it! Have a great week and happy reading :)

I liked Madame Tussaud but prefer her older book, Cleopatra’s Daughter. I am glad you are enjoying Madame Tussaud.

I will have to check out The Innocents some time. I am interested in reading that one. My book discussion group will be reading The Age of Innocence next month.
