Weekly Workouts – January 13 to January 19

January Nike Fuel: 45664 - I use the Nike+ FuelBand to calculate my Nike Fuel and overall activity.  It’s a great motivational tool!

Ugh, several more days below freezing.  It is not supposed to be this cold in Denver!  I’ve been feeling off for a couple of weeks, and I ultimately figured out that I have a sinus infection.  I tried to do some cardio and it made things worse, so I decided to skip that while I wasn’t feeling well.  I’m already uncoordinated, and my equilibrium was off, so I made the educated assumption that falling over was not a great plan.  All told, it was kind of a failure fitness wise but I don’t feel like it was my fault.

Sunday – Nike Fuel 1420: Calf raises, biceps curls, and tricep lifts with resistance bands.

Monday – Nike Fuel 2204: Calf raises and biceps curls.  I also practiced on my balance board, which I’m trying to get back into.  I want to get to the point that I can do squats on it.

Tuesday – Nike Fuel 2300: Minimal strength training.

Wednesday – Nike Fuel 1783: I had a deliberately slow day, I just didn’t feel up to anything.

Thursday - Nike Fuel 3084: I unintentionally multi-tasked this day.  I did some grocery shopping, and I thought it was only going to be a bit, but I ended up needing more than I thought.  When I walked in, I grabbed one of those little carry baskets, and I ended up putting about 15 pounds of stuff in it.  I’m pretty sure those baskets aren’t made for that, but I got my strength training in by carrying that thing around!

Friday – Nike Fuel 2843: Strength training and playing with dogs.

Saturday – Nike Fuel 1584: Least fun day this week.  The sinus infection hit me pretty hard this day and let’s just say it didn’t go well.

Sorry about the sinus infection. Good job getting in a little strength training. I find yoga or light stretching can be a good activity, too, when I’m otherwise not doing well.

    Take care of yourself!

I’m sorry about it too, my head felt sooo unhappy! I’m glad it’s basically gone at this point. I definitely need to work more yoga into my daily routine, I always feel so much better after doing just a little bit of it.

Good job keeping active despite the sinus infection! I hope you feel better soon!

Well done for even trying to exercise when feeling sick. I’m a big baby but fortunately since starting running have had no illnesses (now I’m gonna get a bundle of course!) It’s not a bad thing to have a break when you’re sick though, or find an alternative means of exercise from your usual routine. I need to find one of those because at the moment running is the only one I have.

My activity level while sick really depends on what the illness in. If I feel nauseous or really fatigued, I won’t even try. There’s a line between what will be good for me versus what is going to make things worse, so I try hard to pay attention to what my body is telling me.

I do try to vary my workouts too. I get in some strength training almost every day, during good weather I go out with my dog for walks, and I often change up what I do at the gym. I figure it’s fun to always keep my body guessing!
