Merlin 1:7
Oh Morgana, you poor thing.
I actually like that Morgana is having visions and stuff, leading her towards her ultimate future in the Arthurian legend. Things are still happening with some liberties, but I would have been pretty irritated if no mention had ever been made that Morgana is magicy.
There’s a soft spot in my heart for the land of Avalon, but in my remembrance, the people of Avalon aren’t really evil like they were portrayed in this episode. Granted, they are less concerned with what happens to mortals, but they aren’t all out to kill everyone on earth like it kind of seemed like they were. Also, why was the main dude speaking for Avalon a man? That’s kind of the thing about Avalon, it’s run by women.
Even though it was prompted by magic, I loved that Arthur was all snotty and getting Merlin to cover for him. But I have mentioned previously how I love snotty brat Arthur, so I don’t think it’s any surprise.
It is a little weird to me that this episode introduced the concept of a seer to the people of Camelot. Seer’s were supposed to be a big part of life back then, so I can only assume it’s Uther’s ban on magic that makes people surprised that one exists. I also think that Morgana really should just come out to Uther, I think he’d like having a seer around and overlook the liklihood that it’s rooted in magic.
Like the last couple of episodes, this one was better than the ones at the beginning. Although this isn’t my favorite TV show, I do like the fact that you don’t have to think too much about it. It just is, and you *can* wait to see it when you have time.
