I didn’t really intend to watch a whole disk when I started out, but it just happened that way.  So I watched the final three episodes of the season and of course, I was sad afterwards.  Sometimes I wonder why I am watching this show – it’s fantastic, but it makes me sad a lot!

One thing I really like is that they seem to be interested in covering a variety of types of deaths, whether that be gang violence, natural causes, SIDS, guns, or hate crimes.  I like that they don’t shy away from something just because it’s a questionable topic.

Obviously, the second to last episode where the young gay man was killed was really hard for me.  I have a lot of friends in the gay community and sometimes I think I’m so involved in it, I forget that there are so many people out there who hate them for simply being them.  It’s just very sad to me when people will hate anyone based on their looks or mannerisms.  I get disliking someone if you know them and just don’t find them appealing, but hatred of people for their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation…I just don’t understand it.

I really really liked the way that David decided to start taking control of his sexuality towards the end of the season.  I admire that he can continue to be a part of a church that seems to not want him, and that he will speak out against them for being bigoted, saying he refuses to be ashamed anymore.  I wonder where this will go in coming seasons, if he will ultimately leave the church and go back to the one he was going to with Keith.

When I watch a show like this, I always wish it was more acceptable to be the way these people are.  The interactions they have with the big wigs at the funeral directors convention in Vegas are fantastic, but you know something like that doesn’t really happen in actual life.  And it’s too bad, because I like the honesty of it.

Despite having only seen one season of this show now, I am already sad that it has ended.  I’ll very much look forward to watching the rest of it, but I wish there was more.
