Mercy 1:1

September 28, 2009 By: dorolerium Category: TV

As the introductory episode, we meet our cast of character: Veronica, the main character, a nurse who was in Iraq; Sonia, the hot nurse friend of Veronica; Chloe, the young girl who just got done getting her masters; Mike, Veronica’s estranged husband; and Chris, the doctor Veronica met in Iraq and fell in love with.

This episode basically does a lot of setting up of their relationships and shows you what kind of hospital show it’s gonna be.  Truthfully, I haven’t seen a hospital show before other than the occasional clip of Grey’s Anatomy or ER, so I don’t really know if this is typical for the genre or not.

Due to personal experiences, this show was a little difficult to watch.  I liked it, and I’m intrigued to watch some more, but I had a hard time particularly with the woman who has cancer.

It made me really sad that she was going to try further treatments and surgery for the sake of her family.  I know that a lot of the time, this is what people do because the family can’t say goodbye, and I’m so glad that Veronica had the conversation with the woman explaining to her that it was okay if she wanted to stop.

Obviously any show where you deal with sick or dying people will have sad moments.  This one is no different, and it was certainly drama filled.  I believe I mentioned that my interest in the show sprung from seeing that Michelle Trachtenberg was in it.  For those of you in the know, she played Dawn on BTVS, aka my least favorite character ever from that show.  But, I am drawn to all things Buffy, so I am trying it.  And sadly, she has not grown as an actor, so anyone who hoped for that, you will be disappointed.

The interpersonal relationships, especially the one we are supposed to be most interested in, are definitely something I’m going to look forward to seeing more of.  I am inclined to watch some more and see how things work out.  And since I’m a what happens next kind of girl, I guess the show did its job!
