Dexter 4:1

October 03, 2009 By: dorolerium Category: TV

I love this show.  Plain and simple.  As you have witnessed, I watch a lot of TV shows these days, and this is definitely my favorite.  Yes, even more than Dollhouse, which I adore as well.  In my opinion, this is absolutely the best show on TV right now – at least as far as of what I have seen.

So much happened in this episode, it’s a doozy of a season opener.  I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see the rest of Rita’s pregnancy, the moving in, and especially these seemingly sudden changes in Aster.  That girl turned into a teenager overnight!

I loved the switching between Dexter at the beginning, trying to get Harrison to sleep, and the introduction of the new serial killer, the Trinity Killer.  Also, I think Trinity must be a friend of Bill Compton’s, what with the femerol artery being his favorite.

Each season, I am amazed at how much I like the villain.  Okay, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Lila, she irritated me.  But this killer is fascinating to me.  And I am so frustrated that the preview at the end of the show didn’t say what Trinity’s third victim is when he does his cycle!  Is it, perhaps, the lead forensics investigator on his previous crimes?  It’s quite curious that he is so close in Dexter’s community.

I was a big fan of Special Agent Lundy, so I was thrilled to see that he was going to be back for this season.  I am very curious to see how his interactions with Deb pan out.  And I’m just going to tell Dexter two things: 1) don’t act so weird around Lundy, he is smart! 2) maybe lay off the killing with Lundy in town?  Again, he’s smart!

The crash at the end of this episode is obviously shocking and meant to make us worry.  Dexter seems to be fine, but what I really liked is that we don’t actually see how many bags of Benny Gomez he loads into the car.  It’s so clever, to make us wonder along with Dexter – where are those other bags?  And good to know that it takes six bags to dispose of a body in Dexter’s manner.  This show is educational!

Also, I think it’s totally unfair that the sobriety test given to Dexter is something I’m not positive I could do sober – say your ABCs backwards?  I’d have to think super hard about that one, they’d accuse me of being drunk for sure!
