I totally paused!

Tact is just not saying true stuff

Mercy 1:6

I think so far, there has only been one episode of this show that didn’t make me cry.  I can’t remember for sure, I think maybe I wrote about it.  Either way, this one was a doozy.

Veronica asks to be transferred to oncology, which is the cancer ward in the hospital, so I knew it was going to be tough when I saw the previews.  Cancer is really hard on me, so every time they have a cancer patient in the show, I get upset pretty easily.

In the meantime, she is thinking about telling Mike about her affair with Dr. Sands, but then decides not to because in talking with her cancer patient about whether or not she should tell her children about the disease, the patient says this:

When the truth sets you free, it usually beats the crap out of somebody else

Isn’t that such a true statement?  I love that bit of writing, because it is just so honest.  Later on, when Sonia gets this new explanation from Veronica, she says “That is so convenient that the right thing to do just happens to be the easiest.“  Which is also very true.

Dr. Sands is sad about Veronica going up to oncology, and intends to go find her, but Chloe gives him this speech about how Veronica is committed to her husband and whatever.  Cept earlier in the episode, Veronica asks the group of people who know about her affair to keep it quiet, and that she is going to try to make it up to Mike for the rest of their lives.  Her two nieces are in the room, and she refers to this situation as “desert liaison”, so of course they accidentally spill the beans to Mike.  Ultimately Mike kicks her out, so she starts staying at the hospital.

Chloe also hooks up with a fireman she met on her ride along last episode.  I’m sure something more comes of this in subsequent shows, but they played my new obsession song I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked, so I liked that.  In fact, this is the first place I heard the song, when I watched this episode the first go around.
