V 1:4

January 01, 2010 By: dorolerium Category: TV

The four main resistance people are headed out to get a hold of a V who knows something about what is going on.  He’s a chemistry professor and they’re sure he has been involved in whatever plan the V’s have for getting people to comply.  Along the way, Georgie gets shot and Erica finds out that Morris Chestnut is really a V!  Ruh roh!

Up on the V mothership, they start talking about how Alan Tudyk was murdered and it’s imperative that they find out who did it.  Anna does not want any traitors in her midst!  Joshua gets to head up the search for himself, and we find there’s another traitor on the medical staff who is willing to protect Joshua, who is apparently pretty important to the Fifth Column.  I’m guessing we’ll learn more later.

Back on earth, Morris Chestnut’s fiance is asking about the miraculous cures the V’s can give, because she has a heart condition and needs her meds adjusted.  She heads over to the V’s, and my thought – she’s gonna get assimilated.  These guys are like the Borg or something, cept sneakier.  And Scott Wolf is doing a story about the medical stuff at the same time, he is simultaneously impressed at the technology and annoyed that they won’t let him see more.  He’s an investigative reporter!

We cut back to chemistry professor V, who takes the V suicide pill and wow is that thing effective!  It turns the V into nothing but ash, and we get to watch…let me tell you, I haven’t seen a dusting like that since Buffy the Vampire Slayer!  So they get no info and are back at square one, cept they split up for awhile cuz Father Jack has to go take care of stitching Georgie up.  Plus Erica needs another chance to show everyone the system the FBI uses.

In the meantime, Tyler has been taken back into the V Ambassador program and Lisa wants him to meet her mom, since they are in luv.  He is shocked to discover that Anna is Lisa’s mother, and Lisa tells him, “Don’t worry, she doesn’t bite.”  Umm, no, she assimilates!  She wants to get to know Tyler better, and I am still obviously curious about what exactly their plan has to do with him being “the one”…

The V murder investigation is also still underway, but they know it was someone on the hospital staff so it’s not too hard.  What I would like to know is why does everyone stand in V formation?  Don’t they have another name for themselves besides The Visitors?

Anyway, Anna says the traitor better just step up or she’s going to kill a random person, which is totally mean and what exactly would that accomplish anyway?  This is the sort of threat you hear regularly in a variety of places, and it always works, but sometimes I swear people just need to be more greater good minded and not try to turn themselves in – Joshua.  Who plans to step forward, but the other Fifth Column person does instead, saving Joshua.  The punishment?  Skinning.  And I wish this was cable TV so we could actually see this skinning process.

In a TV interview, Anna is talking about their medical advances and how the shots they are giving people are mostly just vitamins.  They are not meant to cure things like the common cold, and people should not avoid getting their flu shots just because they get a V shot.  So guess what Erica and the rest of the gang find out?  That the V’s are putting crazy something or other into the flu shots!  Sneaky Anna.

Luckily, Morris Chestnut is a V and knows how to blow the warehouse up using the V self destruct code through the computer.  Funny that they wouldn’t like, change that since they know there are traitors out there.  Anyway, there’s a fight with the V’s and one of them ends up following Jack back to the church and stabs him, then runs off, probably leaving him for dead.

If they really do kill Jack off, I will give the show major props because like Joss Whedon, I believe in the strength of killing a main character.  However, we won’t find out what happens to any of these people until March, as this was the last episode of 2009.  So you, like me, will be in semi-high anticipation about several key issues for a few months:

  1. Is Jack going to die?  And how exactly will he and Erica hook up if he dies?
  2. What is going to happen to Morris Chestnut’s girlfriend, who finds out at the end of the episode that she’s pregnant?  It’s a V baby!
  3. What on earth is going on with Tyler?  And could they have cast a less annoying actor instead of him?

Stay tuned, people!
